Dear all,

This term we started a long trip, from the past to the present. We analysed and discussed key concepts such a culture, civilization, language and modernity. Not only that, we also looked into the relationship between the former and education and your understanding was put forward in the form of presentations and critical essays on your blogs.
I have to say that this was an extremely interesting teaching-learning experience to me. Most of you demonstrated great critical skills and engagement. You managed to make the connection between the course and your future as English teachers. And, most of all, you managed to grow an understanding of the importance of being reflective and critical professionals to improve. Being an English teacher in a country like Chile is a great responsibility, and I think you will do a very good job.
Before finishing, I invite all of you to write a critical assessment of the course in the form of entries on this blog.
Good luck to those who are going to the USA. Bring back all your learning and experience to share with us. Those who stay, take advantage of the summer to rest, have fun and read as much as you can....
Best wishes,
Claudia

Dear Miss Claudia:

I really enjoyed this semester with you. I think that the way you work with us was amazing. A lot of people say that grades are not really important, but you showed that way to think and not only saying it. I could see in your classes the real importance of; learning, point of views, critical thinking and of course feedback, which make classes serious and profesional. Anyway we don't find all this terms in all classrooms.

I was really happy in your classes and all the prejudices I had were destroyed with your classes. I have to be honest and say before starting classes I though it will be boring.

I hope my classmates also enjoyed this course with you.

Thank for all!

Hi Salomon,

Thank you very much for your feedback. After all, we teachers work for our students. It was a great pleasure to work with you all.

I´m happy to hear that the course had a positive impact on you. Critical thinking, autonomy and responsibility are key features for a teacher. So, if I contributed to develop those in you, I have to say that I feel more than happy. But, it´s not only the tacher who does the job, you know that already. I think you and many of your classmates did a very good job. You realised the importance of being a reflective teacher to improve.

Thank you again. Enjoy the summer break and try to read before next term starts. I will probably post an entry or send a message to everybody to let them know what we are going to read in British Literature I so that you are better prepared for next year.

Take care,
Claudia

Claudia,
First of all, I would like to say that having this class with you has been a great delight because few are the professors like you who are really interested in improving the way they teach-learn. I’m saying this because I could notice that you really were involved with us, you showed a truly interest in improving your way of teaching. I think you are a good example of a critical thinker. That is why I would like to learn a lot from you.
I liked the way you presented us this course. As I said before, we are not studying English literature but, we are studying English pedagogy, so that is why it is so important that you relate all the time the contents we were seeing in the class with education. This aspect made me feel very comfortable with your class because I really want to teach-learn contents from our own culture and not only based in abstract British rules about English. I want to be an English teacher and not an English instructor. I want to use this language to provide tools for promote the critical thinking among my students.
I liked the degree or your reflection and critical thinking from your part in your class. This led us to have a good example to follow.
I finished this course very content about the development of it.
Thanks for your excellent work!!
Cu next year.

Dear Miss,

Firstly, I have to say that it was a pleasure to had classes with you this semester, because you showed us that you are a really great teacher. You tought us how to be a reflective teacher, but more important than that, you tought us how to be a more critical person with things that are part of our environment. Since the very begining of the term I had a possitive attittude to this subject, because I just love history, and I thought that the course was only to learn more about the English culture, but through the time I realized that it was more than that. I learnt how to relate the impact that English history has with our own culture. I was so amazed while we were studying some old English reigns and relating them with topics that today are also affecting our culture and human development. I really enjoyed classes were we had the opportunity to express our own ideas. Thank you very much for everything, and I hope to see you again next year in order to have another great opportunity to learn from your classes.

I Hope that you have a really great time with your family this summer vacations.

See you soon.

Best regards,

Victoria Pino R.

Dear Claudia:

I don't have much to say, because we already talked at the university a few week ago. I would say that this semester with you was different from others. You were really conscious about our stuff, and I was really happy with that attitude.

Your classes were different from the other ones, because you tried to do something different, and I think you did it.

I think a learnt a lot in your course, and I hope that this repeats next year...

See you around
